I mean, it’s always a joyous occasion. Taking Back Sunday will be releasing their new album Happiness Is on March 18 via Hopeless Records. Produced by Marc Jacob (Saves The Day, The Swellers) and Mike Sapone (Brand New, O’Brother), their sixth album is said to appeal to fans both new and old, treading the line between heady concepts and a conceptual leap for the Long Island favourites.
Speaking of the upcoming album, Adam Lazzara (vocals) said, “I tried to be a little more loose; I was more focused on being myself than trying to sound perfect or anything. We also played around a lot with arranging the harmonies and playing with layers and I think that makes these songs a lot more rich.
“Through the years I’ve tried to stay pretty cryptic because often times it’s easier not to have to explain yourself but on this record I was very direct in the sense I tried to use the simplest way to get an idea across. In the past I don’t think I ever would have let a song like ‘Like You Do’ go on an album because it’s so heartfelt in a simple way and I also think it’s actually one of the first love songs we’ve ever written.”
Ahead of this release, the band have confirmed special show in Kingston on February 19! Tickets for the intimate show are available here. 14+ show.
Those who buy a CD/LP & ticket bundle will have the opportunity to meet Taking Back Sunday at their signing at Banquet Records (5pm). Don’t miss out!
