Papa Roach always garner such an exceptional welcome with each and every return to the UK’s shores and this weekend was no different. Their first UK performances since their Taste of Chaos run in late 2010, the band promised two nights of good ol’ fashioned rock and roll in London and Sheffield respectively and, for London at least, they well and truly delivered.
Playing through tracks including ‘Getting Away With Murder’, ‘Between Angels and Insects’ and ‘Kick In The Teeth’, the foursome played a high calibre, high energy show for their avid fans in Shepherd’s Bush Empire. With their usual enthusiasm they put on an incredible performance, Jacoby bridging the gap between fans and band in his typical fashion throughout.
Deciding to perform further classics from their repertoire, Papa Roach annihilated ‘Hollywood Whore’, ‘Scars’ and, of course, ‘Last Resort’ – the set’s closer. The unquestionable quality that Papa Roach grasps is that ability to produce hit after hit with their music and transfer those tracks to a live capacity with as much gusto and fervour as they deserve.
A big show by all accounts, it simply went down a storm. More than satisfying the fans lucky enough to be there, it begs the question as to when they’ll return for a full UK tour and allow everyone to remember exactly why Papa Roach are simply fantastic.
At the beginning of June, we had the chance to chat to Jacoby Shaddix about a lot surrounding Papa Roach. You can check out that interview here. Photos from the show are coming later.
